Celebrating Success, Gratitude, and New Beginnings at RCLC’s 17th AGM

Dec 17, 2024 | Feature, News

A heartfelt thank you to all the funders, supporters, friends, staff, volunteers, and partners who joined us yesterday for RCLC’s 17th Annual General Meeting. Your presence made the event an incredible success!

We were honored to have the Right Worshipful Mayor of Reading, Councillor Glenn Dennis, open the AGM with a warm and inspiring welcome.

One of the most moving moments of the evening came from our amazing learners, who shared their stories with confidence and eloquence. Hearing how RCLC has supported them on their journeys was truly inspirational and reaffirmed our mission.

The AGM also marked a bittersweet farewell to two extraordinary individuals:

  • Shaheen Kausar, our dedicated outreach worker of 15 years, who is retiring at the end of this month. Shaheen’s unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable migrant and refugee women has left an indelible mark on our community. We are comforted knowing she will return as a volunteer next Easter!
  • Sarah Del Tufo, one of RCLC’s founding members, stepped down as Chair after years of steadfast leadership since the charity’s inception in 2007. Fortunately, she will remain on the Board of Trustees, continuing to guide RCLC with her wisdom and passion.

As we bid farewell, we also welcome new leadership with open arms. Fatima Habib, an accomplished senior executive with extensive experience in the public and private sectors and a deep commitment to charitable work, has joined us as our new Chair. We are thrilled about the future under her guidance and look forward to collaborating with her.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to this memorable event. Here’s to another year of positive impact and growth at RCLC!
