We are delighted to share the transformation of our Centre and say a huge thank you to The Screwfix Foundation for their generous grant towards the painting and refurbishment of Reading Community Learning Centre.
Our Grade II listed building in the heart of Reading is much more than a building. It is a safe, welcoming women-only space where refugee and migrant women come to learn, access support, make friends, build confidence and become part of their community. For many of the women we support, having somewhere they feel safe, comfortable and valued is incredibly important.
The funding has enabled us to carry out much-needed painting and decorating to both the inside and outside of the Centre, including the front façade and windows, rear areas, stairwell, doors, windows, frames and skirting boards.
Keeping our building in good condition is a significant responsibility for a small charity like RCLC. This support means we can protect and maintain our beautiful historic building while continuing to focus our limited resources on providing much-needed services for women and their families. Most importantly, the improvements have created a brighter, fresher and more welcoming environment where our learners can feel a real sense of comfort and belonging.

We would also like to say a very special thank you to Stephen Stripling, our wonderful painter and decorator, who has done an amazing job transforming the Centre.
Stephen has worked incredibly hard and taken such care with the building, and we are so pleased with the finished result. He is also someone who generously gives his own time to support RCLC through his volunteer work, which makes our thanks to him even more heartfelt.
We are incredibly grateful to The Screwfix Foundation and Stephen for helping us make RCLC an even more welcoming and uplifting place for the women and families who walk through our doors.
