We are delighted to share that Reading Community Learning Centre has once again been awarded Reading Voluntary Action’s Safe and Sound Good Governance Award – marking an incredible 10 years of holding this important quality standard.

The Safe and Sound Award recognises charities that demonstrate strong governance, good management and safe, effective organisational practice. For RCLC, this means showing that we have robust systems in place across areas including safeguarding, financial management, risk management, health and safety, policies, procedures and trustee oversight.

Good governance may not always be the most visible part of a charity’s work, but it is absolutely essential. It helps ensure that RCLC remains a safe, accountable, well-managed and sustainable organisation for the women and families who place their trust in us.

Achieving Safe and Sound is a thorough process and a real team effort. It involves reviewing our policies and procedures, gathering evidence, reflecting on our practice and identifying where we can continue to strengthen and improve.

We are incredibly proud to have maintained this standard for 10 years. Over that time, RCLC has grown and developed, but our commitment to strong governance, safety and putting the needs of the women we support at the heart of everything we do has remained constant.
