RCLC Summer Picnic Celebrates Learning and Achievement

Jul 2, 2026 | News

Reading Community Learning Centre held its annual Summer Picnic in the beautiful MERL Gardens, bringing learners, staff and volunteers together to celebrate another wonderful year of learning, friendship and achievement.

The picnic was a joyful opportunity for our learners to receive their certificates, celebrate their progress and reflect on everything they have achieved over the past year. It was lovely to see women from many different cultures and backgrounds coming together, sharing stories, laughter and encouragement.

One of the highlights of the day was the delicious homemade food brought in by learners. Everyone enjoyed sharing dishes from around the world, learning about different cultures and celebrating the rich diversity of the RCLC community.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Phillippa and everyone at The MERL for so kindly welcoming us, allowing us to use the beautiful gardens, and offering the Studio as a backup space if needed. Thank you also to Phillippa for joining us and presenting learners with their artwork, which made the celebration even more special.

It was a truly joyful day and a perfect way to celebrate our learners’ hard work, confidence and achievements.
