Local Hero Emma Takes on London Marathon to Raise Vital Funds for Reading Community Learning Centre

Mar 5, 2025 | Uncategorized

RCLC are thrilled to announce that Emma Diaz will be running the London Marathon on April 27th, 2025, to raise much-needed funds for the Reading Community Learning Centre (RCLC). Securing a ballot place in this iconic race is an incredible achievement, and Emma is determined to make every mile count for this cause close to her heart.

Emma Diaz said, “RCLC is a small but powerful charity dedicated to supporting women from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Through education, language skills, and social opportunities, the centre empowers women to build brighter futures and feel part of the community.” As a passionate advocate for education and development, Emma was inspired to support RCLC after learning that the mother of one of her Year 13 tutees manages the centre.

During a recent visit, Emma was moved by the dedication of the staff and the life-changing impact the centre has on so many women’s lives. “The atmosphere was inspiring,” Emma shared. “It’s clear that RCLC provides a vital lifeline to women on their individual journeys.”

Emma’s marathon journey has been one of determination and hard work. Following the Wokingham Half Marathon, she’s gearing up for the Reading Half on March 23rd as part of her training. With the support of fellow runners, RTB Bootcamp, and her dedicated coach, Kate, Emma is ready to take on the challenge.

We are incredibly grateful to Emma for her commitment to RCLC. Every donation will help the charity continue its essential work. Please consider supporting Emma’s marathon effort—every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.

From all of us at RCLC, thank you for your generosity and encouragement!
