We are delighted to have received a generous grant from Great Western Railway (GWR), following a referral from its REACH staff network, in recognition of the work Reading Community Learning Centre (RCLC) does to support women in our local community.
The funding will help support our English, digital and vocational skills classes for migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women in Reading, many of whom face significant barriers to accessing education, training and employment.
For many of the women who come through our doors, learning is about so much more than gaining new skills. It is about building confidence, improving communication, making friendships, becoming more independent and taking those important first steps towards further education, volunteering and employment.
At RCLC, we understand that every woman’s journey is different. Our women-only learning environment provides a welcoming and supportive space where women can learn at their own pace, overcome barriers and build brighter futures for themselves and their families.
At a time when funding for small charities is becoming increasingly challenging, support like this really does make a difference. It helps us continue providing accessible learning opportunities to women who might otherwise struggle to access them.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Great Western Railway and its REACH staff network for recognising the value of our work, championing the women we support and investing in our local community.
We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and look forward to developing our relationship with GWR.
Thank you for helping us build a stronger, brighter Reading for women! 💜
