RCLC have been awarded the National Lottery Awards for All grant for Zumba classes. Last year RCLC organised a project of zumba, pilates and yoga – our participants loved the opportunity to do activities that they thoroughly enjoy, but don’t get the opportunity due to their personal and financial circumstances. From the feedback questionnaires we received from our first project, all of our women really wanted an opportunity to do exercise classes again. 98% of the women stated the project, “increased their self-confidence and physical fitness”; “helped them to make new friends” and “took
their mind off some of the negatives in their lives”.
The one hour exercise sessions and creche will be free to reduce any financial barrier to entry and ensure a wide range of women attend. Not only will the project help our women become physically fitter and mentally healthier, it will also allow them to build a support network and lifelong friendships, something that they have said they value. We encourage our women to bring a female friend or relative, as this will give them more confidence to attend and stay committed to the project, and allow us to help other women in similar vulnerable situations in life. Healthy eating will be discussed and practised both in the creche and during sessions to raise awareness of preventative health.
Zumba classes will start in Janaury 2020. For more information please contact Petra Robinson on 0118 959 5455 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
