A major focus of the Centre is to provide educational opportunities for women who have had little or no education experience.
Our emphasis is on creating ways to introduce even those with very limited language and literacy skills to take their first steps into education. This may mean starting with a sewing class or a craft activity to build confidence and experience of learning before even attempting to start a formal language course.
All our staff and volunteers have full employment checks, including DBS, references, identity, and qualifications prior to starting work at the Centre, checked and verified, in line with our safeguarding policy. All our tutors and creche workers are qualified in accordance with national guidelines.
RCLC is very proud to be able to offer creche support to our students. We can look after children from the age of 4 months and up to 4 years old. The creche provides a safe and positive learning environment for the children. It is often a first time that children are exposed to the English language. The creche is a fundamental place for the children to develop their social and emotional skills and prepare them for their next step into a primary school. Sadly the creche has been closed since April 2020. We hope to reopen again once the centre is fully open for face to face classes.
