RCLC AGM Tue 4th Dec 2018

Yesterday, 4th of December was RCLC’s AGM. We were very fortunate to have the Right Worshipful Mayor Of Reading, Councillor Deborah Edwards open the evening with very kind words about the work of the Centre but also the importance of this work in bringing communities together.

The Chair of Trustees welcomed everyone from partners, to funders, learners, staff and volunteers through to external stakeholders to the event and gave an overview of the work. The Centre Manager, Aisha Malik elaborated on the different projects which had taken place over the year both at the Centre and also externally. However the highlight of the evening were the testimonials of the learners, their stories and journeys and why they came to RCLC and what they had achieved. The evening was followed by a delicious Pakistani buffet cooked by one of the learners who has now started her own catering business.

We were grateful to all those who attended who made the evening a huge success and also to all of our funders, Reading Borough Council, The Lloyd’s Foundation, The Berkshire Community Foundation, , NLDC Grant from New Directions, The Co-Op Local Community Fund, Marsh Christian Foundation, Garfield Weston, Awards for All, Reading Soup, Inner Wheel  and Comic Relief, and rental income from WEA and Smart Works and the DCLG Controlling Migration Fund, which enabled us to run a sustained programme of activities throughout the year.
